#LondonAttacks: How British cop fought off armed attackers
A British Transport Police officer injured in Saturday night’s attack in London is being hailed as a hero for facing down the armed attackers—armed only with a baton.
The officer, who has not been identified, was stabbed in the face after confronting the attackers near London Bridge. The three attackers were shot dead by police in the midst of their attack on random bystanders. Seven people were killed and another 48 injured. One of the first to respond to the chaotic scene of the attack, the officer has received major praise from his colleagues. “For an officer who only joined us less than two years ago, the bravery he showed was outstanding and makes me extremely proud,” BTP chief constable Paul Crowther said Sunday. Crowther said he visited the unnamed officer in the hospital, where he is being treated for face, head, and leg injuries. An off-duty officer for the Metropolitan Police was also injured in the attack, though no details have been provided on the officer’s condition.
