Dubai Red Line will see partial closures on Fridays & Saturdays until October

The main metro line running through Dubai will see a partial closure over the course of the next ten weeks, according to the RTA.
Breaking: partial Dubai Metro closure for ten weeks
Dubai Metro’s Red Line will be suspended on Fridays and Saturdays between Jumeirah Lakes Towers station and Ibn Battuta station, as essential works take place on the line over the next ten weeks. Starting from July Friday 28 up until Saturday October 14.
The work is with the aim of introducing the changes required to extend the red line to the site of World Expo for Dubai 2020. An alternative plan is in place for passengers travelling to UAE Exchange Station.
“Metro commuters heading towards the UAE Exchange Station need to get off at JLT Station, take a free bus ride to Ibn Battuta Station and then continue their journey by metro in the direction of the UAE Exchange Station,” Said Mohammed Yousef Al Mudharreb, director of rail operations, RTA’s Rail Agency. The opposite journey is in effect for passengers travelling from UAE Exchange towards Al Rashidiya.
The alternative transport plan has been tested and studied with a third party specialist contractor to ensure it will have the minimum impact on commuters using the Red Line, but travellers are advised to leave extra time when travelling.
