Ex-Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert released from prison

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was granted an early release from prison on Sunday after serving a brief sentence over corruption charges.
The parole board said that Olmert was “punished for his deeds and paid a heavy price,” and “underwent a significant rehabilitation process in prison and displays motivation to continue it.” Olmert, 71, went to prison last February after he was sentenced to 27 months behind bars. He served as prime minister from 2006 to 2009.
