Phillip Hughes' grieving family say they are looking forward to the moment that they can greet NSW bowler Sean Abbott and 'give him a hug to tell him everything is okay'.

Tomorrow they will farewell the 25-year-old at a service at his old high school after his shock death on Thursday from a 'catastrophic' injury from a cricket ball.

The family are shocked and devastated but also desperately waiting for the moment they can meet the bowler, Sean Abbott and comfort him for the grief that he must also be feeling.

'We can't wait to see Sean Abbott tomorrow and give him a big kiss and hug,' the family member told Daily Mail Australia.

'We just want to tell him it was freak accident and he cannot think he had anything to do with it.

'No one is blaming him. We want to hug him and tell him that everything is okay.'
