News: Saudi Arabia to install cameras in mosques to monitor imams

Saudi authorities will reportedly install closed circuit cameras (CCTV) in mosques throughout the kingdom to monitor sermons amid concerns some imams are using their calls to pray as means to spread radical ideas.

The largest mosques would be the first to receive the cameras, expected to installed during the first quarter of 2015, an undersecretary at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance .
He said the cameras would allow the ministry to fully monitor pray houses electronically and store preachers’ lectures.
