News: Thanksgiving in Dubai: Where to go for turkey & trimmings

Tourists, residents and everybody in Dubai, wondering where to go on Nov.28? Well, here are some of Dubai's best restaurants to visit for the American celebration.

Baker & Spice: Locally-reared roast chicken (as aren’t any locally reared turkeys) for 4-6 people, with side dishes such as roast potatoes with cracked spice and lemon zest, roasted sweet potatoes with sticky Muscovado and cinnamon, okra with new season lemon and pistachio, pumpkin squash with chickpea, wilted cabbage succotash and green apple and barley stuffing with honey caramel pecans. Desserts include pumpkin, pecan caramel or apple and blueberry pie, in a selection of sizes, with vanilla bean custard or espresso homemade ice cream. Caramel, DIFC: Four­‐course set menu includes butternut squash soup, pumpkin risotto or sweet potato gnocchi to start, roast turkey main with stuffing, cranberry compote and turkey gravy, and pumpkin cheesecake to finish, on Thursday November 28 from 6pm. Claw Bbq, Crabshack And Grill, Souk Al Bahar: Thanksgiving day Turkey dinner with mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, Dh180 including a house beverage. The Gramercy, DIFC: Serving Thanksgiving meals November 24-December 1, with turkey, pumpkin pie and more. Three-course lunch, 12-3pm, Dh125 per person; three-course dinner sharing platter, Dh195 per person from 7pm, including a beverage. There’s also a takeaway menu serving 6-8 people with a whole roast turkey, sausage and chestnut stuffing, cinnamon glazed sweet potato, brussels sprouts, sautéed carrots, chef’s salad, cranberry sauce and gravy with homemade pumpkin pie and creme anglaise, Dh750; orders to be made two days in advance and collected from The Gramercy. The Ivy, Emirates Towers Boulevard: Pumpkin and pecan-laced three-course feast during the last week of November, with roast turkey served with corn bread, mac ‘n’ cheese and sweet potato, apple and pecan pie or cheesecake; Dh395 per person, call 04-3198767. 

Harvesters Pub, Crowne Plaza Dubai: Thanksgiving lunch and dinner, Dh100 for all you can eat. Also at Al Dana, a turkey carving station is included at the buffet; lunch, Dh115, dinner, Dh165. Western Steakhouse has a Thanksgiving meal for Dh89 per plate. Call 800-CROWNE (276963). 

Jones the Grocer: Turkeys to order at all stores in Dubai and Abu Dhabi — stuffed, cooked with all the trimmings and ready to collect on your chosen day; Dh610 with trimmings and Dh410 without, each turkey serves approximately 8-10 people.
