News: Man arrested at Dubai airport after fatal hit and run

A driver accused of mowing down and killing a 29 y.o British pedestrian while drunk was arrested within three hours while attempting to flee the country. The Brazilian allegedly committed the fatal hit-and-run in Al Sufouh in the early hours of Saturday morning (2 a.m). The 31-year-old Brazilian man fled the accident scene directly to his workplace in JLT, from where he picked up his passport then headed immediately to Dubai International Airport.
Thanks to Dubai Police’s vigilance and swiftness the driver was busted at the airport’s Dubai Duty Free before he boarded a Beirut-bound plane at 4.20am.
It is against the law to leave the scene of an accident and especially when there are injuries involved.
“Any person is subject to be involved in a car accident and that is why drivers should not leave accident sites on the spot” -Bu Farousha
