News: Creator of GRAMMY Award name, Jay Danna dies at 91

Rosejay "Jay" Elizabeth Danna, who won a naming contest that gave the GRAMMY Award its name, died Feb. 14 in New Orleans. Danna, a retired executive secretary for New Orleans Public Service Incorporated, was the winner of a national contest that was held in April 1959 to name the GRAMMY Award. Although several other submissions proposed the name "GRAMMY," Danna's was the first to be received in the mail. For her winning contest entry, she received 25 LPs as a thank-you gift from The Recording Academy.
#RIP ma'am, your legacy lives on!
