Godolphin rules the world of horse racing once again African Story ridden by Silvestre De Sousa and trained by Saeed bin Suroor came from behind to win the $10 million Dubai World Cup at Meydan on Saturday night.
Irish raider Ruler Of The World was the favourite going into the 19th running of the Dubai World Cup.But it was African Story who rewrote the script on a pleasant evening in Dubai to come from behind and beat British raider Mukhadram owned by Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance.
It was the sixth time Godolphin stalwart Saeed bin Suroor has saddled the winner of the Dubai World Cup.
"It's an amazing feeling and he just proved he's the best," De Sousa said of the seven-year-old African Story, who was fifth last season.
