Videos & Photos: Dubai/UAE switch lights off for Earth Hour 2014: World goes dark for Mother Nature

At 8.30pm on Saturday March 29, many of Dubai’s residents and public and private institutions switched off their lights for an hour, to mark Earth Hour’s 2014 iteration.
Environment-lovers in the UAE gathered for a walk from 5pm to 10pm around central Dubai with candles and lanterns to celebrate the hour, while major landmarks, including the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, its famous seven-star hotel, the Burj al-Arab, and the Dubai Mall, which switched to a power-saving mode.
In addition to Dubai, similar temporary environmentally-friendly measures for this year’s event also took place in the capital Abu Dhabi and Dubai’s neighboring city of Sharjah.
From Russia, Brunei, Pakistan, Iran, Dubai Media Inc (DMI), UAE, Sri Lanka, Kuwait and Nepal.
