The much awaited declaration of interest by President Goodluck Jonathan to seek for a second term in office has been finally laid to rest this afternoon as the president told leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP at the Presidential Villa, Abuja that he would procure nomination form of the party before the deadline.
We also gathered that the President has set up a presidential declaration committee charged with the duty of drawing up a formal program for his declaration.
The Presidential Declaration Committee is headed by Dr. Haliru Bello, a former Minister of Defence. The declaration will hold between November 7 and 15.
President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will depart Lagos tomorrow, Friday to undertake a brief pilgrimage to Israel.
The President, who will be accompanied by the Chaplain of the Presidential Villa, Venerable Obioma Onwuzurumba and his principal aides will, in addition to visiting Christian Holy sites, join other Nigerian pilgrims in a prayer session for the well-being and progress of the country at an Inter-Denominational Service in Jerusalem on Sunday.
He is expected back in Abuja on Monday.
