News: Caterpillar runs into Army Day School, Abuja: Kills 10 students on the spot

A Caterpillar heavy duty vehicle yesterday crashed into Army Day School in Jikoko, Mpape, a suburb of Abuja, killing 10 of the pupils on the spot.
The unfortunate incident occurred at about 9 am yesterday when the students were receiving lectures.

One of the mothers, who was said to have lost two of her children in the crash, fainted when she heard of the tragedy. According to sources, the same woman has another six year old daughter who was seriously injured in the accident. The girl was rushed to the Maitama General Hospital.

The girl, who was unconscious when she was rushed to the hospital, was said to have lost her fingers and her two knees broken by the heavy duty vehicle.
An eye witness, Tosin Ayomide told Newsmen that the presence of the heavy duty vehicle was surprising given that the school is an open field.
Ayomide said that the accident was so bad that the children, including the ones that died, had to be dug out of the ground where they were rammed into.
