The world's ex-fattest woman has died - after spending 25 years in bed battling a range of health issues caused by her weight.

Eman Ahmed weighed 79 stone (501 kg), when she passed away this morning at Abu Dhabi's Burjeel hospital.

Confirming her death, a spokesperson said: "She had been under supervision of a medical team of over 20 doctors from different specialities who were managing her medical condition from the time she arrived in the UAE.

"Eman's family expressed their appreciation for the care and treatment provided to her by Burjeel hospital."

The 37-year-old weighed a staggering 11lbs at birth.

Years later she was diagnosed with the parasitic disease Elephantiasis - which made her constantly hungry.

By the time she turned 11-years-old, she was too heavy to support her weight standing up, and resorted to crawling in her home on her knees.

Eventually she lost the strength to move on her own and was bedridden.
