Video: WOWZA: First Baby Born From Womb Transplant In Sweden

The first baby to ever be born from a woman with a womb transplant is being welcomed to the world in Sweden, according to a report being published next month in The Lancet medical journal. The baby’s mother was born with a rare genetic condition in which she was born without a womb, so the baby’s grandmother donated her own womb—meaning the baby is also the first to be born from the same womb its mother came from. The woman underwent in vitro-fertilization treatment and had an embryo transplanted in January. The Swedish team that delivered the baby have so far refused to confirm its birth, instead stating, “As soon as there is a scientific peer-reviewed paper, we will comment on this. I will provide you with information as soon as we have some. ”
