The 2014 MOBO Awards arrived last night (22 October) at SSE Arena Wembley, London and we found out which artists went home with a gong and who left empty handed.
Fuse ODG was up against Davido, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Dr Sid, Dj Clock, Afrikan Boy, Mafikizolo and Mista Silva. This will be the second time he is winning the award
Sam Smith scooped four, yes FOUR, MOBO Awards this evening capping off a day of celebrations that also saw him win a gong at the Q Awards.
The bashful 22-year-old Londoner was awarded the best RnB/Soul, best male, best song and best album at the star studded event at London’s Wembley arena in a ceremony hosted by X Factor babes Mel B and Sarah-Jane Crawford.
Money On My Mind singer Smith was favoured over Tinie Tempah, Fuse ODG, Ghetts and Krept and Konan for the best male award, and defeated chart giants Ed Sheeran and Meridian Dan for best song with his smash hit Stay With Me.
His Best RnB/Soul gong saw him win over former Gorillaz collaborator Daley, Estelle, Jessie Ware and Marsha Ambrosius while the best album nod (the biggest award of the night) was voted by YOU live on Twitter.
Smith was cheered on by the biggest names in Urban music including Nicole Scherzinger – who also performed on the night – fellow award winner Jessie J (who scooped best female), as well as supermodel extraordinaire Naomi Campbell.
I don't know who judged and how it was done, but come on, even if Davido or Wizkid don't win the Best African act, what about Mafikizolo?
I have seen Fuse ODJ and Mafikizolo perform live and the latter really rocked!
Well sha, lemme not sound like a sore loser, congratulations to all the winners and nominees!!!
