A rep for Wale has confirmed to XXL that the Maybach rapper has parted ways from Roc Nation.
Wale had been signed to Jay Z’s management company since 2009. According to sources, parting ways was the best career move for the D.C. native. His upcoming forth studio album, The Album About Nothing, is a call back to his Seinfeld-themed early mixtapes—The Mixtape About Nothing and More About Nothing. Not much is known of the anticipated body of work except that it’ll feature tracks produced by both Pete Rock and DJ Premier. Wale has also confirmed being in the studio with Jerry Seinfeld. A Fall release is speculated. Wale will now be managed by 77 North Management, the same management team of LeBron James.
