#GirlsTrip becomes first film written, directed, produced by & starring an all-black cast to make $100m at the Box Office

‘Girls Trip’ has officially made history.
The comedy is now the first film written, produced, directed, and starring an all-Black cast to make $100 million at the box office.
According to Page Six:
The popular summer movie — produced by Will Packer, directed by Malcolm D. Lee, and starring Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Tiffany Haddish — made $100.1 million domestically and $109.9 worldwide.
“Girl’s Trip” made six times its $19 million production budget since its July 21 release.
The commendable chick flick follows the misadventures of four college friends — aptly named the Flossy Posse — who travel to Essence Fest in New Orleans and have the time of their lives.
The heart-warming, knee-slapping film is among the highest grossing movies starring black actresses, behind “Sister Act” ($142 million in 1992) and “Hidden Figures” ($169 million in 2016).
Congrats to the entire cast and crew!
