A Ugandan pop star faces arrest after her ex-boyfriend posted naked ‘revenge porn’ photographs of her on the internet.

Desire Luzinda has gone into hiding after the pictures went viral on social media websites and were published in newspapers in the East African country.

But the nation’s State Minister for Ethics and Integrity Simon Lokodo has said that the 26-year-old musician should be investigated or even arrested amid a tightening of restrictions over pornography.

The singer, who has a young daughter, told the BBC: ‘I was in love. I have never taken nude pictures. When my mother called me she asked, “Were you drugged, were you drunk? Because honestly, this isn’t you.” I didn’t have an answer.’

It has been claimed that the photographs were leaked after a row between Ms Luzinda and her former lover.

But Lokodo told the Monitor: ‘I have directed the police to arrest her, but first they should investigate her.

‘She should be locked up and isolated.’ (lol at isolated! Na Ebola she get?)
Luzinda, who lives in Kampala, Uganda, has since thanked fans who have supported her while apologising for any offence caused by the publication of the pictures, the Independent reports.

‘I want to sincerely apologise to my mother, to my daughter, to my family, to my friends, my fans and any other people who have been offended by these images,’ the newspaper quotes her as writing.

‘Like I said, this was a breach of trust by someone I loved. I take full responsibility for having lost my mind to take such shameful pics. This person has not only abused that trust but now seeks to drag me down.

‘Those who have interacted closely with me know I am a decent person, a doting mother and an industrious woman. These images in no way should define who I am.’

Here's the story:

According to Franklyn Emuobor from Nigeria, he leaked the photos to teach Desire a lesson for her alleged promiscuity and vowed to destroy her completely with more nude photos to come.

He claimed that he has been the one bankrolling her musical career but unknown to him, she has been serially cheating behind him and when he confronted her, she labelled him a Nigerian con man and reported him to the police, saying that he is into some fraudulent activities. He therefore vowed to destroy her career and show her that he is a proud Nigerian man.

According to the media in her country, Desire who is a mother of one, is not known to be married but has been associated with a string of men in Kampala.

In the 6-minute sex tape, she is seen having a good time with her lover in what appears to be a hotel room. But Desire insists that she was betrayed by a man she loved and that she was blinded by Franklin’s love when she was taking the photographs and being recorded.

The embattled musician is considering securing a court order blocking media houses against publishing lurid content about her private life after it emerged that a sex clip in which she is reportedly involved had leaked.

Luzinda has since described the leakage of her photos in which she is seen touching and exposing her private parts as a “breach of trust”.

However, the singer has since apologized to her countrymen in a letter she posted on her Facebook page.

To all my fans in Uganda and all over the world, as you might be aware, there has been a lot of fanfare and discussion in the media and social media about my photos taken in private that were leaked to the public by a jilted lover.

The facts about this matter are that these were photos taken in privacy with someone I loved. In our private moments, we all have our “moments of madness”. The bottom line is that I trusted this person and never hoped that something done in private would find its way to the public domain irrespective of our differences.

I am aware that for many people who looked up to me as a role model, to the fans who adore my music, to the young generation that looks up to artists like me as a symbol of the importance of grooming and growing talent, these photos must have been an upset.

I want to sincerely apologise to my mother, to my daughter, to my family, to my friends, my fans and any other people who have been offended by these images. Like I said, this was a breach of trust by someone I loved. I take full responsibility for having lost my mind to take such shameful pics. This person has not only abused that trust but now seeks to drag me down.

Those who have interacted closely with me know I am a decent person, a doting mother and an industrious woman. These images in no way should define who I am.

Let me also thank my numerous fans who have stood by me in this period —asking me to be firm amidst the tempest.

Just to let you know, the responsible authorities are doing everything possible to ensure I get justice. Once again, accept my sincere apologies.
