A man has been sentenced to a month in jail along with his sister-in-law after a court found them guilty of committing adultery.
The Dubai Misdemeanours Court sentenced the Emirati man and his countrywoman sister-in-law to a month in jail after they admitted that they had consensual sex in September.
Prosecutors accused the 43-year-old man and his 25-year-old sister-in-law of having adulterous sex.
The man also admitted to trespassing into the majlis.
The woman also confessed that she allowed her accomplice to enter her in-law's house without permission.
The man pleaded guilty. The presiding judge granted the couple a lenient punishment after their lawyer provided the court with certain documents.
Records said the Asian maid saw the man trespassing into the majlis late one evening in September.
The maid rushed to her sponsor (the woman suspect's mother-in-law) and told her that she had seen someone entering the majlis but could not recognise him. The mother-in-law immediately informed the neighbours that a thief had trespassed into their house and asked for help.
Police were summoned and a police patrol was dispatched to the location in Al Ghusais. Police raided the majlis.
Thursday's ruling remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
