A source close to the general told Saharareporters that some 20 minutes before landing, the pilot was informed that the jet did not have permission to land in Makurdi, citing an order from above.
Attempts by General Buhari’s handlers to speak with aviation authorities failed as they claimed persons involved in reversing the order could no longer be reached by phone.
SaharaReporters reached out to Nigeria's minister of aviation, Osita Chidoka, who claimed he was not aware of such developments.
