According to the Los Angeles Times, Judge Michael Levanas ruled in Shelly's favor, allowing her to sell the NBA team regardless of an appellate court's intervention.
While Shelly's husband Donald Sterling has been fighting the sale, he was declared mentally incapacitated in May under terms of the Sterling Family Trust.
Following the ruling, the NBA's Executive Vice President, Communications issued the following statement: "We are pleased that the court has affirmed Shelly Sterling's right to sell the Los Angeles Clippers to Steve Ballmer. We look forward to the transaction closing as soon as possible."
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has reportedly offered $2 billion for the team.
