The body of Omotayo Adeoye, 17, of the Bronx, has not been recovered from the waters, and authorities are still searching for her, police sources said on Friday morning.
The troubled teen left her identification card on the rocks near West 158th Street and Riverside Drive before jumping into the water at 3:35 p.m. Thursday, according to police. A strong current swept her away as terrified onlookers tried to stop her, cops said.
Adeoye left a note at her school, Math, Science and Engineering High School, saying she was upset because she got caught cheating — and that school officials could find her in the river, police sources said.
A witness saw her set her ID on the rocks and urged her to swim to shore but she ignored him and was swept away in the current, according to police.
Reached at her home on Friday, a relative told The Post the teen hadn’t seemed depressed.
“She was fine,” was all he would say.
