Video: President Obama Spills on Daughter Malia's First Prom

She's only allowed to have limited access to Facebook, but first daughter Malia Obama got to experience one teen rite of passage without too much interference from her parents.

"Malia did have her first prom," her doting dad, President Obama, revealed on Live with Kelly & Michael on Friday.

"May we ask, did she go with a boy to the prom?" Kelly Ripa asked.

The 15-year-old protective parent deadpanned, "I think this is all classified information."


The president – who revealed at the end of last year that Malia, a sophomore, is allowed to date now – admitted that it's a shock to the system to see his little girl grow up.

"I think it's fair to say that the first time you see your daughter in heels is a little bit jarring," he said. "She's lovely. She's beautiful."

Strahan tried to picture the scene for Malia's date, who likely had to pull up to the White House and meet the most powerful man in the world before taking Malia to prom.

"That's rough," Obama said with a laugh. "You know what, I'm not too intimidating, I don't think."

It seems he's stepped back from the plan he had for grilling any of his daughters' potential suitors.

"I might invite him over to the Oval Office, ask him for his GPA, find out what his intentions are, in terms of career," he joked to Good Morning America in 2011. "I should also point out that I have men with guns that surround them often."
