According to Gawker, 32-year-old Courtney Ann Sanford was driving down the interstate in High Point, N.C. over the weekend and veered off the road, crossing a median and crashing head-first into a truck.
After her death, family and friends brought to officials’ attention that Sanford posted a status about “Happy” just seconds before she died.
“The Facebook text happened at 8:33 a.m. We got the call on the wreck at 8:34 a.m.,” explains Lt. Chris Weisner, with the High Point Police Department.Sanford was wearing her seatbelt, but it wasn’t used properly. Weisner says he hopes people will remember to refrain from texting/posting and driving.
“As sad as it is, it is a grim reminder for everyone… you just have to pay attention while you are in the car,” reminds Weisner.Texting, posting, checking email, etc. is never OK to do while driving. Unfortunately, Sanford and her family had to learn the hard way.
So sad! May her soul truly rest in peace! So much is happening these days!
