Photos: Pharrell Auctioning off Infamous Grammys Hat for Charity

Pharrell‘s infamous Grammys hat is putting its powers to good use. The “Happy” singer has placed it up for auction on eBay, with all proceeds going to his charity, From One Hand to Another.
As of press time on Friday, the Vivienne Westwood hat had 64 bids … with the highest being $10,500 (it started at $200)! Bidding will continue until March 2, which is the day before his solo album GIRL drops. When Pharrell called in to a radio station following the Grammys last month, he said he was honestly surprised by the attention the hat- which some compared to the Arby’s logo- received, especially on social media.
“It’s a Buffalo Hat and it’s an ode to Malcolm McLaren. He had a song called ‘Buffalo Stance’ and when I was a kid it was a big thing, so I was with a friend of mine … and she gave me the history when we went to the Vivienne Westwood store and I was like ‘Okay, I need that.’ So I got it and this was about 4 or 5 years ago … and at the very last minute … I was thinking about what I was going to wear, and I knew I didn’t want to  wear what I was going to wear during the performance, in the seat, or to the red carpet so I … just threw on my Adidas jacket and the Buffalo Hat and went for it.”
