Non-Emiratis with a "Golden Card" can get permanent residence status in the UAE

A new 'golden card' scheme has been announced in the UAE offering permanent residence to certain investors and talented individuals.
The new system was announced on Twitter by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. It will apply to exceptional professionals in areas including medicine, engineering and science. The first batch of permanent residence visas will go to 6,800 investors whose combined investments total more than Dhs100 billion. Sheikh Mohammed wrote on Twitter:
“Today, we have launched the permanent residency system “golden card”. The golden card will be granted for distinguished individuals, exceptional talents and anyone who contributes positively to the success story of the UAE. “We want them to be permanent partners going hand in hand with us in our journey. “All residents in the UAE are our brothers and part of our great family in the UAE.”
