A four-day public holiday for Eid al-Fitr has been announced by UAE officials.

The break is expected to start on Tuesday June 4 – the last day of Ramadan– depending on moon sighting.
It will then run for three further days, meaning the possibility of a five-day weekend for workers who get Friday and Saturday off.
According to an announcement by the government earlier this year, the holiday will apply for both public and private sector officials.
Meanwhile, the government suggests the dates for the Eid Al-Adha holidays will be between Friday August 9 and Monday August 12.
Here's a provisional list of the country's public holidays for 2019 so you know what to look out for...

UAE public holidays 2019 (dependent on moon sighting)
  • Tuesday June 4: Eid Al-Fitr
  • Friday August 9-Monday August 12: Arafat Day and Eid Al-Adha
  • Sunday September 1: Hijri (Islamic New Year)
  • Sunday December 1: UAE Commemoration Day
  • Monday December 2-Tuesday December 3: UAE National Day
