Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Floyd Mayweather would be a $1.5 billion fight

Floyd Mayweather and Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez have fuelled speculation of a potential rematch after both men were in attendance to watch LA Lakers face LA Clippers.
Canelo's promoter Oscar De La Hoya yesterday revealed how a bout between the duo could be worth an astonishing £1billion should they fight each other again. The American five-weight world champion - who announced his retirement in 2017 after beating Conor McGregor - inflicted Canelo's only defeat of his career in 2013. Mayweather, 42, proved to be too slick for the Mexican as he won on points, but the middleweight king has made no secret of his desire to avenge the loss. Speaking to TMZ Sports about the match-up, De La Hoya said:
"First of all, Floyd is retired so there is no fight to make. “But if Floyd did want to come back, he should stop fighting fighters who are two weight divisions smaller than him.
"If Floyd Mayweather decides to come back, a fight with him and Canelo could be a $1.5billion (£1bn) fight."
While Alvarez - who is preparing to defend his WBC and WBA titles against Danny Jacobs - said of the 1996 Olympic bronze medallist: "I would love to have the opportunity to avenge that defeat. "But if it doesn't, then I will continue my path and write my own history."
Both men were joined at the Staples Center by Zlatan Ibrahimovic - who recently netted the winner in LA Galaxy's 2-1 win against Chicago Fire in the opening game of the new MLS season.
