News: Long Weekend For UAE Residents To Mark Prophet's Birth Anniversary

                      UAE residents are in for another long weekend next week, officials announced.

Government ministries and federal departments will  remain closed on Sunday, January 12, to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammed which falls on 12th day of Islamic month Rabi Al Awwal.

The public holiday was announced according to a circular issued by Humaid bin Mohammed Obaid Al Qattami, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of the Federal Authority for Human Resources (FAHR), state agency WAM reported.

Private sector workers will also enjoy a one-day paid holiday depending on their work week, the Ministry of Labour announced. Those workers who have a six-day week will be off on Friday and Saturday, while those who work a five-day week will be off Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
