Say W-H-A-T?: There will be no fireworks at Dubai’s Burj Khalifa for NYE

We’re getting ready for something a little bit different this New Year’s Eve, as Dubai’s most iconic landmark is preparing for a break from the norm.
NYE in Dubai is synonymous with enormous fireworks displays coming from the Burj Khalifa in Downtown Dubai (see above photo) at the stroke of midnight.
Well, Emaar, the master developer, has announced via the Downtown Dubai Instagram account that instead of the traditional fireworks shebang on Sunday December 31, this year we can expect a brilliant light show instead.
It’s being dubbed Light Up 2018, and the following video is promising NYE in Dubai this year is “nothing like you’ve seen before”.
The following trailer has got us all excited, and we now can’t wait for the ball to drop to find out what the world’s tallest tower has got in store for us to wave goodbye to 2017, and ring in 2018.
If you’re after a more traditional fireworks display this NYE, then check out one of the many other amazing locations where you can make some “umming” and “ahhing” noises, including Burj Al Arab, Atlantis The Palm, Dubai Parks And Resorts, Address Montgomerie and more.
