For those who may have missed the memo, Patrick Sawyer is the Liberian-American dude who fled Liberia and came to Nigeria knowing fully well he had the very contagious Ebola virus.
According to his wife, Decontee Sawyer, her late husband came to Nigeria to get better medical treatment but unfortunately died there.
My question is "Why Nigeria"? Why didn't he go to the US of A or even any country in Europe?
Does Nigeria have a better healthcare system than the United States of America?
This really puzzles me.
Nigeria was free of Ebola until the 20th of July 2014 when Mr Sawyer was rushed to the First Consultant Hospital Obalende, Lagos, where he DIED four days later.
We were still trying to manage our issues of Boko Haram, abduction and praying against plane crashes around the world, then BAM, Patrick Sawyer! BAM, Ebola!!
It was reported that the Health Minister, Onyebuchi Chukwu said on Monday that the Liberian government had apologized for the incidence.
Since Mr. Sawyer’s death in a Lagos hospital, two other persons who had contact with him have died of the virus. In recent days, more Nigerians have also tested positive to the infection and have been quarantined at a Lagos hospital.
This issue on ground is really a pathetic one, innocent souls are dying anyhow, even ogas at the top are being extra careful, avoiding physical contacts with themselves, hospitals fear receiving Ebola suspects because of its super contagious manner, the whole world is now just being weary of the deadly plague called "Ebola".
On Monday in Abuja, President Goodluck Jonathan described Mr Sawyer’s decision to travel to Nigeria in harsh words:
“Sawyer that brought this Ebola to Nigeria; his sister died of Ebola,” he said. “And he started acting somehow, his country asked him not to leave the country, let them observe him, but the crazy man decided to leave and found his way here.”
Liberian Deputy Minister of Finance for Fiscal Affairs, Sebastien Muah said the Late Patrick Sawyer deceived and manipulated the Liberian government and the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, to enable him travel to Nigeria.
What was Sawyer's motive?
Many people are upset with the late Sawyer and are cursing him. Can you blame them?
Was Sawyer's action a deliberate one? Was his "better health care system in Nigeria" a genuine reason? Where is he, in heaven or where? Is he resting in peace?
So many questions: Who has the answers? Perhaps only the Late Patrick Sawyer does!
We may not know anything, but God sees all our hearts and will judge everybody according to his deeds.
A big shout out to all the doctors, nurses and paramedics who are risking their lives to treat these Ebola victims and the "scientists" trying to find a cure for this disease.

There is no nice way to say this... whether US or Naija it wouldnt have mattered . he should have chosen isolation and died and honourable death instead of taking innocent people with him. Dazzal!

ReplyDeleteThe bastard!!! He did it deliberately - he must have hated Nigerians that's why he made sure he got to Nigeria. Especially if the reports are true that he urinated on the staff who were attending to him, that's just despicable and beneath contempt!!!

DeleteMy comments keep disappearing from your blog. Whenever I finish writing an cliq on the publish button it disappears. Well on the terrorist patricks case I think he was paid to come to nig and spread the decease, he never said a word about his illness to the doctors attending to him while he was in the hospital, they were busy treating him for malaria and typhoid, he still kept mute. I also think liberian govt was aware of his trip to Nig. My point where ever he is let him rot in hell.
