“I’ve had a bit of a bicycle accident and I’m currently waiting on some medical advice, which may affect some of my upcoming shows. Please stay tuned for further news. Ed x,” Sheeran said on Instagram.
Meanwhile, Thomas Ovesen, CEO of 117Live – the events company organising his Dubai show at the Autism Rocks Arena on Thursday November 23 – had this to say: “Ed Sheeran is about to start his Asian tour in Taipei and it ends at the Dubai Autism Rocks Arena. Once we have more updates on any potential implication for the Dubai show we will of course share with fans and readers – for now we wish Ed a speedy recovery.”
Ed Sheeran has confirmed that the first five shows of the Asian leg of his world tour have been cancelled. While gigs in Taipei, Osaka, Seoul, Tokyo and Hong Kong have been cancelled following doctor’s orders, his gig in Dubai on Thursday November 23 is currently still due to go ahead at this stage.
Here is the full statement from Ed Sheeran: "A visit to my doctors confirmed fractures in my right wrist and left elbow that will leave me unable to perform live concerts for the immediate future. Sadly, this means that the following shows will not be able to go ahead as planned: Taipei, Osaka, Seoul, Tokyo and Hong Kong. I’m waiting to see how the healing progresses before we have to decide on shows beyond that. Please stay tuned for more details. PS - Ed isn’t typing this as he has both arms casted/bandaged."
Until further notice, the gig in Dubai is still due to go ahead.
