The People’s Party won 31.5 percent of the vote, edging out the Social Democrats who came away with 27.1 percent. The far-right Freedom Party came in a close third, winning 25.9 percent of the vote. That party has campaigned on anti-immigrant positions, and Kurz might have to form an alliance with them in order to form a government.
