The official public holidays announcement was made by UAE Barq, and the government website U.ae specifies that the Eid-Al-Fitr holiday will be four days, which means UAE residents can benefit from a long weekend.
These will be paid holidays for private and public sector employees.
Eid Al Fitr occurs after the last day of Ramadan, on the first day of Shawwal.
Eid Al Fitr is a celebration, which marks the end of Ramadan.
There are moon-sighting committees in each country all over the world. They get together after the sunset prayers in order to see the new moon of the month of Shawwal.
If the moon is seen with the naked eye, the committee will announce the end of Ramadan.
This announcement automatically signals the start of Eid Al Fitr.
Happy Sallah!
