She is now sharing the pictures online in hopes of spurring others on to follow their dreams and aspirations.
Two years ago, Jinna Yang's father passed away from stomach cancer. In postings on her blog.
Yang, 25, lamented that in exchange for providing 'bread and butter' for herself and her family, her father had shortchanged himself out of doing the things that he wanted to do, like play PGA golf.
She recalled how he persevered working in his dry cleaning store in North Virginia despite his illness and maintained his determined, upbeat demeanor until the end.
To handle her sorrow, Yang worked even harder in her corporate New York City job.
'From the outside looking in, I seemed to have it all' she wrote on her blog.
However, she wrote, 'What people didn’t see was the toll the combination of life events took on every inch of my body, heart, mind, and soul.'
When the stress she was under with her father's passing and her grueling job responsibilities grew to a fever pitch, Yang dropped everything and did something drastic.
She bought a one-way ticket to Iceland, and brought with her a cardboard cutout of her late father.
'My father never had the chance to travel the world' she wrote. 'He sacrificed his entire life for others – his parents, his children, his wife, his family and his friends.'
To honor his memory and come to peace with herself, Yang brought her father with her as she traveled across Europe. She put the pictures on her Instagram.
