News: Drunk man walks into wrong restroom at Dubai hotel then claims to be gay

A woman claimed to security guards that her male friend was a homosexual to avoid trouble when he mistakenly entered the women’s bathroom of a luxurious hotel during a birthday beach party.

The British student was celebrating her birthday when the incident happened at the beachside of the hotel at Palm Jumeirah in Dubai.

The student and her countryman salesman were believed to be very drunk during the party when they walked in together to the women’s restroom in May.

“When my colleagues and I walked into the bathroom to bring out the British couple, the woman told me that her friend is homosexual and that he had unintentionally entered the women’s washroom. The salesman was carrying a glass of alcohol inside the cubicle,” a Syrian security guard claimed during questioning.

“The salesman and the student were drunk when they entered the restroom together. Security guards were asked to empty the women’s washroom before they asked the couple to open the door of the cubicle in which they were,” a source said.

When police were summoned to the hotel, the drunken salesman clarified that he unintentionally entered the wrong bathroom. He alleged that he did not look at the sign and walked into the restroom.

Prosecutors accused the Britons of consuming liquor.

The Syrian security guard testified: “When I knocked on the cubicle’s door, the woman opened it. I asked her if there was any man present with her inside, and she immediately replied ‘yes and he is gay’. We took them out and called the police.”

The student claimed: “It was my birthday and we went there with a group of friends to celebrate. We had alcohol and then I walked along with the salesman to the restroom. We were talking and then entered the restroom... security then pulled us out. We were taken to the police station because we were drunk.” 
The Dubai Misdemeanours Court fined the British couple Dh2,000/$550 each for consuming liquor.
