News: Busted: Naked couple caught smoking hashish in Dubai hotel room

A teacher and her boyfriend, who were busted naked inside their hotel room during a drug raid, have been accused of possessing and consuming hashish.

The 28-year-old Iranian teacher, M.J., and her 34-year-old countryman boyfriend, S.H., were said to be staying in a hotel in Deira when drug enforcement officers raided their room following an informant’s tip off in March.

“After obtaining prosecutors’ permission to search the couple, we found them unclothed inside the hotel room. They had consumed drugs and alcohol,” claimed an anti-narcotics police captain according to prosecution records.

Drugs prosecutors charged the suspects with consuming hashish and liquor S.H., who happened to be visiting the UAE at the time of his arrest, was solely accused of smuggling and possessing hashish and providing M.J. with the same drug.

The teacher denied consuming hashish when she entered a not guilty plea before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Thursday.

“I only consumed liquor... but not drugs,” M.J. told the court.

Meanwhile her accomplice, S.H, admitted to all his accusations.

According to the charge-sheet, prosecutors said the 34-year-old visitor [S.H.] smuggled 15.07g hashish and 0.43g amphetamine. He was accused of providing M.J. with hashish to consume it and consuming hashish and amphetamine.

“Did you provide M.J. with drugs?” presiding judge Ezzat Abdul Lat asked the man.

“Yes I did. I was smoking a hashish cigarette and she asked me for a smoke and I gave her,” replied S.H.

Meanwhile the teacher’s lawyer contended before the court that his client [M.J.] was dragged into this case against her will.

He defended that she was drunk at the time when the incident happened and that she was not aware that she consumed hashish.

Prosecution records said the two Iranians tested positive for drugs.

The anti-narcotics police captain testified to prosecutors that the informant alerted them that the defendants were consuming hashish in their hotel room.

“We obtained prosecutors’ permission and a police patrol was dispatched to the location at 11.15am. When we raided the room, we searched their clothes but didn’t find any drugs meanwhile we didn’t search them because they were naked. We searched the room and found some banned substances. Upon confronting S.H. with the findings, he admitted that he smuggled them with him from Iran on the day previous to his arrest. M.J. admitted that S.H. provided her with a hashish cigarette to smoke it,” the captain claimed to prosecutors.

The court reconvenes later this month to hear prosecution witnesses.
