Somewhere in Nigeria, Okra leaves & Yam are causing extraordinary number of identical twins

'There are so many because of the okra leaf that we eat,' - that's the view of residents of a Nigerian village where there is an extraordinary number of identical twins.

Twins are common in the Yoruba ethnic group that dominates southwest Nigeria. But the village of Igbo Ora has what is believed to be one of the highest birth rates for identical twins in the world. Some residents believe the cause is eating Amala - a local dish made from yams and cassava flour. While others say okra leaves used to make a stew which is popular in the village is a contributory factor.
