Photos: Dubai gold souk gets a face-lift

Dubai Municipality is planning to give tourist hotspot, the Dubai Gold Souk a face-lift to make it even more appealing for visitors.

Some of the touches being added include ventilation, lighting, smart signage and even umbrellas to keep everyone nice and cool.
Inspectors will also sample the gold and jewellery to ensure customers are getting exactly what they (literally) bargained for. Dubai Central Laboratory (DCL) will test the merchandise using the latest technology.
