ANNOUNCED: Hijri New Year holiday for UAE public & private sectors

A holiday day has been announced for the public and private sectors to celebrate the Islamic New Year.
Workers will get a long weekend with next Thursday (September 13) off, and normal hours will resume on Sunday September 16. The important occasion is traditionally a time for Muslims to reflect on their faith.
However the actual date for the new year, which marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar is likely to fall on Tuesday, September 11.
Alcohol will not be served from Monday, September 10 at 6pm until Tuesday, September 11 at 7pm anywhere in Dubai.
