Photos & Video: Dubai Safari welcomes 175 new baby animals

Dubai Safari has welcomed 175 baby animals to the park since opening its gates in December.
They represent 30 species of animal including a vervet monkey, 22 blackbuk antelopes, three Arabian wolves, 12 corn snakes, two Nile crocodiles, five Egyptian fruit bats, six wood ducks, 24 African spurred tortoises and three African white lions among others. Sounds like quite the party. The babies live on the sprawling wildlife park, which is spread over 119 hectares, with over 2,500 animals representing more than 250 species from around the world. Khalid Al Suwaidi, Director of Leisure Facilities at Dubai Municipality, said, “With the addition of the 175 new-borns, we are pleased to see the Dubai Safari family growing in terms of both the number and diversity of the species. “The list of the new arrivals highlights the sheer variety visitors can look forward to at Dubai Safari, including rare animals such as the African white lions, which further strengthens our commitment to conservation efforts for endangered species.

We invite the UAE community to join us in welcoming the latest additions.” The safari is home to the most diverse array of animal species in the UAE and the Dhs1 billion project by Dubai Municipality is dedicated to animal welfare and conservation. The park intends to provide a safe home to 5,000 animals by 2020 and is committed to contributing to global efforts to protect endangered species and ensure animal welfare through best practices and techniques anchored on expertise and scientific research.
