Dylann Roof to plead guilty to murder charges

Dylann Roof, who infamously murdered nine parishioners at Charleston's Emanuel AME Church in June 2015, is set to plead guilty to state murder charges in order to avoid a death sentence.

Dylann Storm Roof
Roof was convicted in a federal trial on a slew of charges, including hate crimes, and a jury sentenced him to death. Solicitor Scarlett Wilson has said the 22-year-old will enter his guilty plea on the nine counts of murder on April 10. Roof spent months planning out the violent attack on the historic black church, according to authorities. He opened fire during a closing prayer, reportedly while the parishioners had their eyes closed.
