Photos: 2 Nigerians To Participate In Obama’s Leadership Initiative #Yali2014

Two young Nigerians have been selected to join other young Africans to be part of President Barack Obama’s Young African Leadership Initiative – #Yali2014, in the United States of America.
They are Oluwatoyosi Ogunseye and Olusegun Odunaiya.
Oluwatoyosi has a 10-year investigative experience as a journalist. She is the first female editor in the over 40-year history of Punch Newspaper.
Olusegun has more than six years of experience working in the renewable energy sector with a focus on solar energy systems.
The initiative announced last year June by Barack Obama, will gather 500 young African leaders to the US each year for leadership training and mentoring.
The fellowship, will invest in a new generation of young African leaders who are shaping the continent’s future, respond to the strong demand by young African leaders for practical skills that can help them take their work to the next level in the fields of public service and business, deepen partnerships and connections between the United States and Africa and build a prestigious network of young African leaders who are at the forefront of change and innovation in their respective sectors.

OgunseyePlease meet Olusegun Odunaiya, A #YALI fellow from Nigeria.
He has more than six years of experience working in the renewable energy sector with a focus on solar energy systems. As the operations officer for Havenhill Synergy Limited (the business venture he started over four years ago) he directly oversees a project called “End Blackout” in rural communities. This project provides small, off-grid solar systems with sustainable capacities. 
He is also directly responsible for the day to day administration of the organization and supervises activities such as consulting, energy management and audit, strategy and policy formulation for the growth of the organization and, most importantly, the various solar energy projects in and outside of Abuja.
He has demonstrated unique abilities in sustaining and growing the business over the past few years. He has acquired skills in project management, systems development and a host of other skills related to his field of work. He leverages social media to initiate change in both business and youth empowerment.
Upon completion of the Washington Fellowship Program, Olusegun will return to strengthen and enhance his renewable energy program in both rural and urban communities by providing centralized and decentralized, small-scale solar systems in these communities. Most importantly, he plans to initiate a renewed effort in inspiring and encouraging young people through the “Secondary Schools Go-Green initiative”.
Olusegun has his first degree in Physics and Solar Energy from Bowen University. He is currently undergoing an online program to attain a degree in Business Administration from SMC University in Switzerland and an online, Post-Graduate Diploma in Renewable Energy from Teri University in Delhi. He has also participated in several local and international solar energy & leadership training.
