News: Top Dubai Nightclub Promoter In Interpol Investigation

A Dubai nightclub promoter claims he has been detained as authorities in Denmark investigate a telemarketing firm he used to run.
Marc Blacha, who organises parties, DJ sets and corporate events at venues in the emirate, is now back in Denmark after he said he spent two weeks in custody in Dubai.
In a Facebook post, Blacha, who has promoted nights at clubs in the emirate including Boutiq at the Address hotel and NDulge at Atlantis, said that police in Dubai detained him after an Interpol arrest warrant was issued.
Blacha said that he’d been in custody in Dubai since June 10 and has returned “voluntarily.”
“This is due to an extradition request sent out by the authorities of Denmark, who want to have a chat with me regarding activities related to a telemarketing business I used to run years ago,” Blacha wrote on Facebook. “I have been escorted to Dubai airport, because I – voluntarily – have chosen to travel back and clear my name.”
It is understood the questioning relates to one of the largest telemarketing scams ever uncovered in Denmark, for which two men have been convicted of fraud.
Business.dk carried out an investigation into a firm Blacha set up in 2009. It’s said he started his business after first working for the two other men who have been jailed for fraud.
The company allegedly ‘cold-called’ small businesses about advertising in publications before pocketing the money. But Blacha said on Facebook: “Despite the fact that the case against me seems rather weak, I do expect them to detain me in a Danish prison a few weeks for questioning before I can return to Dubai.”
Authorities in Denmark were unavailable for comment as 7DAYS went to press.
