Photos: Michael Babatunde undergoes successful surgery after Ogenyi Onazi broke his arm

During Nigeria's World Cup match against Argentina we got a scary glimpse at just how hard these players can kick a soccer ball and just how much damage the ball can do.
With the ball bouncing loose about ten yards outside of the box, Ogenyi Onazi of Nigeria got about a 7-yard run at the ball before attempting a long shot at Argentina's goal.
Unfortunately, his teammate, Michael Babatunde, was between the ball and the goal.
Professional soccer players can kick the 1-pound ball 70 mph and players like Cristiano Ronaldo can kick the ball up to 80 mph. Onazi had a full head of steam on his shot.
Babatunde tried to brace himself when he saw the shot taken.
The results were devastating. The replay appears to show that the radius bone of his right arm was broken at impact.

Super Eagle midfielder, Michael Babatunde has undergone a successful surgery on his fractured wrist.A statement by the team’s Media Officer Ben Alaya on Thursday said Babatunde has since returned to the team’s camp in Campinas.Babatunde was welcomed back to the camp by team mates including Ogenyi Onazi, whose shot damaged the wrist. The statement said Onazi had jokingly said that Babatunde stopped his goal bound shot.“I swear that was a sure goal if not for Tunde’s hand, I wish him quick recovery,” he was quoted as saying.Team Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, regretted that the player has been ruled out of the World Cup.“Unfortunately, he is ruled out of the tournament because it will take at least three weeks for that surgery to heal,” Keshi said in the statement. It added that Keshi assured Nigerians of capable replacement for Babatunde in the team.“It’s not looking good that he will feature again in the tournament, we are sad about that but we have people who can fill in for him very well and I think we have to go win for him now”, Keshi was quoted as saying.
