News: Angelina Jolie Made an Honorary Dame by Queen Elizabeth II

She’s not just Hollywood royalty anymore, she’s the real deal. Angelina Jolie has been made an honorary Dame by Queen Elizabeth II. Chosen for recognition during this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours for her philanthropic and campaigning efforts surrounding work against sexual violence and the use of rape as a weapon. Because she is a foreign citizen, Jolie cannot be addressed as Dame but receives the title on an honorary basis.
In a statement, Angelina says, “To receive an honor related to foreign policy means a great deal to me, as it is what I wish to dedicate my working life to. Working on PVS and with survivors of rape is an honor in itself. I know that succeeding in our goals will take a lifetime and I am dedicated to it for all of mine.”
She also met with Prince Charles’ wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall during a dinner on Thursday.
Ending sexual violence is a cause that’s close to the Duchess’ heart. Camilla has visited rape crisis centers across the United Kingdom where she spoke with survivors regarding their tragic experiences.
Jolie co-chaired the four-day Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict and addressed ways to raise awareness in front of representatives from more than 100 countries.
Congratulations Angelina!!!
