Pelumi Nubi, a Nigerian travel content creator, has driven from London to Lagos, spending two months on the road.
Nubi arrived in Lagos on April 7, making her way to the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
In November 2023, Nubi announced her intention to embark on a solo trip from London to Lagos.
She commenced the trip on January 30.
Nubi made the trip in a Peugeot 107.
The vehicle was customised with features that allowed for sleeping and dining spaces.
Nubi travelled across 17 countries.
Her itinerary took her from England to France, Spain, Morocco, and through the West Sahara Desert, all by road.
She drove through Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, and Benin before arriving in Lagos.
At UNILAG, Nubi was received by Toke Benson-Awoyinka, Lagos commissioner of tourism, arts and culture and many housing industry leaders including members of HDAN, REDAN.
Her father Prof Timothy Nubi is a member of affordable housing Hall of fame bestowed on him three years ago by HDAN
Also present at the reception was Idris Aregbe, a special adviser on tourism, arts and culture in Lagos.
Nubi had initially announced that she would arrive in Lagos on March 23.
However, she said the date had been changed due to border issues she was experiencing in some countries.
She later disclosed that she was denied entry at the Sierra Leonian and Liberian borders.
On March 26, Nubi revealed that she was involved in a car accident.
She also shared photos of the wrecked car with the front part severely mangled and the windscreen shattered.
3She, however, said she would continue her trip when she regains strength.
Nubi’s passion for travel is not new. In a social media post of 2022, she disclosed that she had visited 77 countries at age 27.
The arrival of Nubi who started the solo drive at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border was announced by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Lagos State Governor, Gboyega Akosile, on Sunday in a post on his X handle.
