#Tokyo2020: This African country pulls out of the Olympic Games

Five athletes are affected by the decision, which was announced by the country's sports minister.

Sanoussy Bantama Sow said it was due to COVID-19 variants, but some media outside the country are quoting a source close to the government which says the decision is financial. 

North Korea announced they would not be sending a delegation to Tokyo earlier this year.
