#Olympics: 7 new Covid-19 infections reported at #Tokyo2020

Tokyo Olympics organisers on Tuesday reported seven new Games-related Covid-19 cases, including two athletes.

The latest daily cases have brought the total number since July 1 to 155. 

Tokyo recorded 2848 new Covid-19 infections on Tuesday, July 27 making it the highest-ever tally in the Japanese capital since the pandemic began, officials said. 

The record tally comes at a time when the Tokyo Olympics are being held under a Covid-19 state of emergency in Tokyo. 

The record jump in daily cases of coronavirus infections in the fifth wave of the pandemic fuelled by Delta variant is putting pressure on Tokyo's hospital, according to Reuters.
