#Milkshake American singer, Kelis opens restaurant in Dubai

Global superstar Kelis will be performing at the opening party of Turkish restaurant The Galliard next week.

The new restaurant, in Address Downtown Dubai, will be opening officially on Thursday (October 25), and the US singer will be taking to the stage. Kelis, famous for Milkshake, is also a Cordon Bleu chef. The restaurant sits in the space previously held by Calabar, featuring a bustling open kitchen, an extensive grape cellar, a bar and an open-air terrace with stunning views of Downtown Dubai and the Burj Khalifa. The menu has Italian, French and Spanish influences and signature dishes include raw meatballs (cig kofte), cigborek, tantuni and manti with mains such as lamb shank, organic chicken, salt-crusted sea bass and iskender kebab.
“Inspired by my Turkish roots and my travels abroad, I am delighted to introduce our multisensory concept – The GALLIARD – to the appreciative and multicultural people of Dubai, at an iconic location in the heart of the city,” said founding partner, Ahmet Uras.

The restaurant joins a whole host of restaurant in the newly re-opened Address Downtown, including super-trendy global steakhouse STK. There's also The Restaurant at Address Downtown, which is a similar take to The Restaurant at Address Boulevard – based around a town house. Diners can choose to eat in various “rooms” of the house, including lounge, dining room, library or kitchen. Zeta, which is yet to open, will be a Californian-Asian restaurant, with views over the Burj Khalifa, and for afternoon tea there is the Lounge at Address Downtown. There’s also the Cigar Lounge. For drinks there will be Neos, perched on level 63 of the hotel, which is being billed as a “luxurious, lively lounge”. Open daily 6pm-2am. Address Downtown Dubai, Downtown Dubai (052 489 9982).
